The director, Caroline Josey Karoki, is a Kenyan-born filmmaker who wants to give a voice and a platform to at-risk girls from a little-known Kenyan community in the most intimate and respectful manner. Producing a film about overlooked subject matters such as FGM and early childhood marriages means the girls will have more support and attention
locally, nationally and globally. It raises awareness that such practices still exist, encourages bold conversations and ultimately helps put an end to the harmful practices. Girls can be saved from permanent pain and suffering. They can get an opportunity to have a childhood and get an education.
